Adam works as a lighting designer in opera, theatre and dance.
Recent productions include Enda Walsh and Donnacha Dennehy’s new opera The Last Hotel for Landmark Productions and Wide Open Opera; Enda Walsh’s Ballyturk and Misterman for Landmark Productions and Galway International Arts Festival; Sam Gold’s production of The Glass Menagerie at the Toneel Groep, Amsterdam; Michael Keegan Dolan’s The Big Noise, The Rite of Spring & Patrushka, Rian, Helen and Hell, James Son of James, The Bull and Giselle; Jamie Lloyd’s Urinetownat the St James Theatre and his Macbeth with James McAvoy at the Trafalgar; Michael Sheen and Ian Rickson’s Hamlet at the Young Vic; My Fair Lady at the Chatelet; Adriana Lecouvre for the Royal Opera; Un Ballo in Maschera for the Metropolitan Opera; Powder Her Face, Julius Caesar, Billy Budd, A Midsummer Night’s Dream and Peter Grimes for English National Opera and Deidamia and l’Ercole Amante for De Nederlandse Opera.
Adam has also lit Aida for the Deutsche Oper Berlin; Tannhäuser for San Francisco Opera; Pique Dame for Bayerische Staatsoper; Dido Queen of Carthage at the National Theatre; the premiere of the play Five Gold Rings for the Almeida Theatre; the musical Beauty and the Beast for the Royal Shakespeare Company; Cider House Rules for the Atlantic; Power Plays for Manhattan Theatre Club and A Day in the Death of Joe Egg on Broadway.
