Mikel Murfi – Caretaker

Mikel Murfi is from Sligo and trained in Ecole Jacques Lecoq, Paris.  His performances in theatre include Swan Lake (Teac Damsa); The Man In The Woman’s Shoes (Loco and Reckless Productions); The Last Hotel ((Landmark Productions / Wide Open Opera); Ballyturk (Landmark Productions / Galway International Arts Festival); The New Electric Ballroom, Lyndie’s Got a Gun, The Increased Difficulty of Concentration (Druid); The Chairs (Blue Raincoat), The Playboy of the Western World, The Morning After Optimism, The Tempest and The Comedy of Errors (Abbey Theatre); Giselle, Rite of Spring and Petrushka (Fabulous Beast); and Desire Under The Elms (Lyric, Hammersmith).

Directing credits include Toraiocht (Fíbín); Penelope and The Walworth Farce (Druid); Trad, The Great Goat Bubble (Galway international Arts Festival); The Country Girls (Red Kettle); Diamonds in the Soil (Macnas); Waiting for Godot (Theatre Du Pif, Hong Kong); Arrah Na Pogue and B for Baby (Abbey Theatre); and The Far Off Hills (Nomad)

Performance credits in film and television include The Last September; Sweety Barrett; The Butcher Boy; Guiltrip; The Commitments; The Ballad of Kid Kanturk and most recently as Tommy Gilroy in Ken Loach’s new film Jimmy’s Hall.  He has directed two short films, Druma (a short film for Macnas) and John Duffy’s Brother (screenplay by Eoghan Nolan).
